A BRIEF SUMMARY of OUR COMPREHENSIVE SAFETY PROGRAM
SAFETY FIRST
We want our company to be a safe place for you to work. You can help us do the job! Accidents are serious for you and your family in that they reduce your earnings and cause physical discomfort. They are serious to the company because skills are lost in not having you available to work. You will be helping yourself, your family and your company if you follow every safety precaution and avoid taking unnecessary risks in your work.
Please report all hazardous conditions and unsafe habits immediately. Immediately report all injuries to your supervisor.
SAFETY FIRST (RULES)
Here are some safety rules you must follow to protect yourself from possible injury.
1. Report to your supervisor any conditions that appear unsafe.
2. Operate only the equipment which you are trained and authorized to use.
3. Don't wear your hair, clothing or jewelry in any manner which may get caught in a tool or piece of equipment.
4. Wear safety goggles when operating power driven tools.
5. First Aid kits are available in all trucks and job trailers.
6. No horseplay, running or practical jokes as they often lead to injury.
7. When lifting an object, avoid strain by using your arm and leg muscles instead of bending your back.
8. Good housekeeping practices are to be followed at all times as this is a proven safety factor.
9. Do not allow unauthorized visitors or children on the job site.
10. Never work on circuits or equipment while energized. Make sure the power is turned off and tagged to prevent unauthorized persons from re-energizing.
11. Always wear your hard hat.
12. Always know where the material safety data sheets are for your job.
13. Learn how to recognize unsafe conditions and know how to correct the condition at once.
14. Maintain your physical and mental health so as to be always fit to properly perform your duties.
These rules are required because most accidents can be prevented; however, rules alone will not prevent accidents, it takes the cooperation of all of us to see that the accidents are eliminated. Learn how to recognize and correct any unsafe conditions. Report unsafe conditions to your supervisor and always THINK SAFETY. PRACTICE SAFETY. LIVE SAFETY.
Safety is as much a part of your job as installing electrical work. It is a skill to learn and develop.
SAFETY PROGRAM
ARTICLE I - POLICY
It is the policy of this company to maintain an effective and aggressive safety program in an effort to prevent accidental deaths and injuries; to provide a healthy and safe place of employment for all of its employees; and to abide by all regulations as they pertain to our "Industry" which are set forth in federal, state, and local standards. To assure implementation of the above policy, Mr. Dennis Wehner, Mr. Mike Butler & Mr. Russell Shell have been designated, in addition to other duties, the Safety Officers for this company.
ARTICLE II - MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Be familiar with the laws pertaining to safety and their basic requirements.
2. Provide means to accomplish policy as stated above.
3. Strictly enforce this policy and discipline any employee willfully disregarding it.
4. Encourage all other trades we work with to abide by a high safety standard.
5. Encourage general contractors and other prime contractors to abide by a safety policy.
6. Conduct safety inspections and file reports.
7. Investigate or cause to have investigated any and all accidents and file full
reports on each.
8. Establish procedures for treatment of injuries.
9. Establish and provide safety training for personnel.
10. Make available all necessary personal protective equipment, job safety materials
and first aid equipment.
11. Instruct the foreman that safe practices are to be followed and safe conditions maintained throughout the job.
12. Instruct the foreman individually regarding their safety responsibilities.
13. Inform the foreman that they are not to require or permit their men to take
chances, but rather that they instruct the men in proper and safe procedures.
14. Furnish each foreman with a copy of this "Safety Program."
15. Encourage all others working with you to adhere to a safety regulations.
16. Review all accidents with foreman, file required reports and see that any needed corrective action is taken immediately.
17. Have available copies of all federal, state, and local safety regulations including Hazardous Communications.
18. Maintain a drug free workplace.
19. Instruct foreman and workers to be able to recognize potentially unsafe conditions and corrective actions to be taken.
ARTICLE IV - FOREMAN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Be familiar with the laws pertaining to safety and their basic requirements.
2. Furnish all workmen with a copy of this "Safety Program."
3. Post a copy of this "Safety Program" on the job site bulletin board.
4. See that the entire Safety Program is carried out at the work level.
5. See that the workmen commit no unsafe practice.
6. Make sure that no unsafe conditions exist in their work area.
7. Make sure that necessary protective equipment is on hand and used.
8. Instruct all workmen in safe procedures and job safety requirements. Follow up and insist on compliance.
9. Discuss safety in personal contacts with other workmen on every operation.
10. See that all injuries are cared for properly and reported promptly.
11. Investigate all accidents, file complete reports, and correct the cause immediately.
12. Take immediate action on unsafe conditions reported by workmen.
13. Make weekly safety inspections. Complete the report form and keep it on file at job for review by the Project Manager and any Safety Inspectors.
14. Maintain safe and working temporary power on all construction sites.
ARTICLE V - WORKER RESPONSIBILITIES
1. WORK ACCORDING TO GOOD SAFETY PRACTICE AND OBSERVE ALL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AS POSTED, INSTRUCTED AND DISCUSSED.
2. Refrain from any unsafe act that might endanger himself or his fellow workmen.
3. Use all safety devices provided for his protection.
4. Report any unsafe situation or act to his foremen or the job superintendent immediately.
5. Know how to recognize unsafe job site conditions, tools or equipment.
6. Know the corrective action to take in the event an unsafe situation arises.
7. Be a safe workman off the job as well as on.
8. Know the proper use of all tools and equipment or ask for assistance.
9. Do your part to maintain a drug free workplace.
ARTICLE VI - SUBCONTRACTOR RESPONSIBILITIES
All subcontractors of LeMay Electric, Inc. and their personnel are subject to all safety rules and regulations as well as the requirements of LeMay Electric Safety Program while working on LeMay Electric, Inc. projects and shall be responsible to the limit of the safety laws for their acts of omission and commission.
